JV1 Eases Past Timberlane in the Rain, 8-0

The JV1s shook off the distractions of a late arrival and steady rain to overcome an inexperienced Timberlane team 8-0.  The Marauaders led 5-0 at halftime and took their foot off the gas in the second half.

Anthony Maynes got the scoring started nine minutes into the game, taking a feed from Henry Aspinwall, who had intercepted a clearing pass from the goalkeeper. Four minutes later, Peter Burnham centered a pass from the left wing to Aspinwall, who found room in a crowd at the edge of the penalty area to fire a shot through the keeper's hands.

Pierce Hamlin's heads-up play gave the Marauders a 3-0 lead at the 18-minute mark.  Evan Nichols hot a shot on frame from 25 yards out.  The goalie initially handled the ball, but lost track of it, and Pierce was (as always) in the right place at the right time to steal it and tuck it into the net.

Eric Ringer got into the act 25 minutes into the match, converting a pass from Jack Maynes, who had carried the ball down to the line, and sent it back to the six for an easy finish.  Maynes then hit the bar with a left-footed rocket in the 34th minute, and a few ticks later Jackson Lake found room to chip the keeper for a 5-0 lead.

Tucker Monson sent Henry Aspinwall through in the 45th minute, and Hanover's leading scorer hit a back heel that tucked inside the post to make the score 6-0.  Monson got his second consecutive helper ten minutes later, feeding Pierce Hamlin for his second goal.  Aspinwall finished off his hat trick, toe-poking a ball into the net on a feed from Monson, who had Hanover's first three-assist effort of the season.  CJ Wheelan had a easy time of in in net to collect the shutout.

The Marauders return to action on Friday afternoon with a rare home game at Dresden at 4:00 against Winnacunnet.  There is no school that day, so players will need to find their way to the match on their own.  If they are clever, they can then head back to HHS to watch the Varsity take on their Warrior counterparts at 6:00.  They can then turn their attention to Sunday's CROP Walk in Lebanon at 1:00, and hopefully find some time between now and then to solicit some donations for this very worthy cause.  https://www.crophungerwalk.org/lebanonnh/Account/Register
